How to style a bookshelf
Styling a bookshelf can be a fun and creative way to add personality and visual interest to a room. Done right, they’re expressive and interesting. Done wrong, they’re a cluttered mess! Here are some tips that I use when styling a bookshelf:
Start with a clean slate: Take everything off the shelves and clean them before you start styling.
Choose a color scheme: Pick a color scheme for your bookshelf that complements the room’s décor. You can use color to create a cohesive look, or mix and match for a more eclectic feel.
Group items by size and shape: Group books and decorative items together by size and shape to create balance and visual interest. Place taller items on the ends of the shelves and smaller items in the middle.
Mix up your display: Don’t just stick to books. Mix in decorative objects like vases, sculptures, and picture frames to add variety and personality to your bookshelf.
Play with texture: Add texture to your bookshelf by including items like woven baskets, ceramic pots, or glass jars.
Use bookends: Bookends not only keep your books organized but also add an element of style. You can choose bookends that match your color scheme or pick a unique design to add interest.
Add lighting: If your bookshelf is in a dimly lit area, consider adding a small lamp or string of lights to brighten it up and draw attention to your display.
Remember to have fun and experiment with different arrangements until you find a look that you love!
